🎨How to Install & Use Photoshop Layer Styles
Photoshop Layer Styles are preset effects that can instantly change the appearance of text, shapes, artwork, and other layers. Styles can include effects such as strokes, shadows, glows, bevels, color overlays, gradients, and more—and because they’re non-destructive, you can continue editing your original layer after applying them.
✨Installing Your Layer Styles
Download and unzip the file if it comes in a ZIP folder.
Open Adobe Photoshop.
Go to Window > Styles to open the Styles panel.
Click the menu icon in the upper-right corner of the Styles panel.
Choose Import Styles.
Locate the .ASL file you downloaded and click Open.
Your new styles will now appear in the Styles panel and are ready to use.
✨Using a Layer Style
Select the layer you want to style in the Layers panel.
Open Window > Styles if the Styles panel isn’t already visible.
Click the style you want to use.
The style will be applied to your selected layer.
You can apply styles to text, shapes, illustrations, graphics, and other layers—you’re definitely not limited to text!

✨Quick Tip
Don’t be afraid to customize a style after applying it! Double-click the fx icon next to a styled layer to open the Layer Style settings, where you can adjust things like the stroke, shadow, opacity, size, color, and other effects. You can also use Layer > Layer Style > Scale Effects when a style looks too large or too small for your artwork.
One style can look completely different depending on the font, artwork, size, and colors you use—so experiment! That’s half the fun. 😁
