How to Use PNG Borders & Dividers

PNG borders and dividers are an easy way to add decorative details, structure, and personality to your designs. Because they come with a transparent background, you can place them directly into your project without having to remove a white or colored background first.

Ways to use them:

  • Frame your artwork โ€” Place a border around illustrations, photos, invitations, signs, printable artwork, and more.
  • Separate sections โ€” Use decorative dividers to break up text, headings, recipes, journal pages, and other layouts.
  • Add decorative accents โ€” A border doesn’t have to go around the edge! Try using individual elements as embellishments or accents throughout your design.
  • Create stationery & printables โ€” Add borders and dividers to planners, journals, worksheets, cards, invitations, and other printable projects.
  • Enhance digital artwork โ€” Layer borders over backgrounds, illustrations, collages, and typography to add an extra decorative touch.
  • Mix and match โ€” Combine different borders, resize them, rotate them, or layer multiple elements together to create your own unique look.

Quick Tip

Because these are transparent PNG files, simply import the PNG into your design program and place it on its own layer. From there, you can resize, rotate, recolor, duplicate, flip, or adjust the opacity to fit your project.

Try using a border inside the edge of your design, rather than right along the outside edge, for a more intentional framed look. You can also use a divider horizontally or vertically to break up a layout.

Compatible with most programs that support PNG files, including Photoshop, Procreate, Canva, Affinity, and other popular design software.
