🎨Using Mask Shapes in Photoshop
Mask shapes are a quick way to confine an image, texture, pattern, or other artwork to a specific shape without permanently altering the original artwork.
To use a mask shape:
- Place your artwork on its own layer.
- Place the desired mask shape directly below the artwork layer.
- Hold Alt (Windows) / Option (Mac) and click the line between the two layers in the Layers panel.
- The artwork will now appear only inside the shape.
- You can move, resize, or edit the artwork and shape independently at any time.
This is especially useful for creating custom backgrounds, clipped patterns, photo effects, and other designs while keeping your original artwork fully editable.
